What is the Horse History report and how does it work?

The Horse History report is a tool, which can be used for multiple purposes such as; an input to invoicing your clients, a source of data for the progress of each horse over time and a single point of reference for the activities of each horse. A horse is scheduled for activities on the Allocations screen.

A step-by-step guide to generating a report follows, including how you can download the report as an Excel (.xls) spreadsheet or a Comma Separated Value (.csv) file.

We have chosen Excel XLS and CSV files because both can be imported by almost any spreadsheet (office) software on any platform; Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS and Android..

For the example I will use a horse called Barkley at our fictional yard Taylor Dressage & Eventing.

Schedule

In the simple schedule below you can see there are a number of repeating activities to which Barkley has been allocated:

01-SimpleSchedule

We will view a Horse Schedule History report for Barkley.

Access the Horses Screen

From any screen in the system, click on the main menu and select Horses

02-MainMenu

Select Horse History

Identify the horse you are interested in and either, click the horse’s stable name (Barkley) or select Horse Schedule History from the horse action menu (cog icon) on the right hand side.

03-Horses

I select Barkley and Stable Manage loads up the Horse Schedule History screen.

Horse History

By default the system will display the most recent month’s worth of activities that are on his schedule across all activities.

Select Activities

Click SELECT ACTIVITIES.

04-ClickActivities

Stable Manage displays a popout form where you can tick or un-tick the activities you are interested in. For the sake of our example I have left all activities selected (ticked).

IMPORTANT NOTE: Activities can be used to fine tune the report you wish to generate, for example you might select activities influencing client invoicing, health, training and so on.

05-ActivitiesPopoutClick the CLOSE button to hide the activities popout again.

06-CloseActivitiesPopout

Select a Date Range

A Horse History report can contain a large amount of data so we recommend limiting your selected date range to something manageable and relevant to your needs. For our example I have selected a single month.

Click FROM and select the start date for your report. I have selected October 1st:

07-From

Click TO and select the end date for your report. I have selected October 31st:

08-To

Generate and/or Download

Optionally you can click DISPLAY REPORT to refresh the simplified version of the report displayed by default on screen:

Note the HORSE DETAILS information displayed at the top of the screen. As well pertinent information about this horse, this also includes the yard where the horse is resident, owner contact summary and the horse’s residential status. In our example Barkley is Full Livery.

09-WebView

At any time you can click the DOWNLOAD REPORT button to open the download menu, where you can select to download the report for the horse, activities and date range currently selected. The download options are an Excel (.xls) spreadsheet or a Comma Separated Value (.csv) file:

10-Download

Your web browser will either download the report directly to your default downloads folder or it will ask where you wish to save the file. The file is named: “<stable name>_<from date>-<to date>.xls/.csv” by default.

This means that we have the following report file name downloaded: “Barkley_2015-10-01-2015-10-31.xls” in our example.

When opened in spreadsheet software the report appears as follows:

11-Spreadsheet

The data in the report can then be used for whatever further purposes you wish, such as accounting, invoicing or data analysis.

New Look Saturday! .. we hope you like the new look of www.stablemanage.com, which we have launched this morning.

Android Screenshot of StableManage.com

The goal of the new web site is to give current and future users of Stable Manage a better view of what Stable Manage does and how it can help you, your owners or your yard manage your horses more efficiently.

Just like the Stable Manage app itself, the web site aims to be easy to use for non-technical users as well as those comfortable with the internet.

The site includes a BLOG and an OVERVIEW of the features Stable Manage offers.

From here on, we’ll be posting regular updates, “how to” guides and quick tips here on the web site, which we’ll let you know about on our Facebook and Twitter feeds.

Use the CONTACT link to get in touch if you have any questions or comments!

Update – Allocations on the Schedule!

We’ve released a small update to Stable Manage this morning. The main Schedule view, now displays the Horse Allocations associated with each entry directly on the Schedule itself.

This enhancement makes it much easier to see which horses are associated with each entry, either as allocations to attendees or as allocations to the entry without a rider (e.g. for feed, lunging or farrier sessions).

Auto-updating Schedule and Allocations

Friday Friday here again!

Great news, we’ll be releasing a small update to Stable Manage this weekend with some usability improvements. The main improvement is that the Schedule screen and Allocations screen work are going to be more “tack room wall” friendly.

What does that mean?

You can have Stable Manage displaying your schedule on a screen on the wall somewhere like your tack room, canteen or staff room and changes that you make to the schedule or horse allocations will appear automatically for your staff / clients.

No more rushing to update the whiteboard before staff bring in the wrong horses from turnout!
