How do I view the Horse Weight Record?

Recording horse weight is a good way of correlating between feed, exercise, medication and condition. How to record Horse Weight is described here: How do I add or delete a Horse Weight Record?

To view how a horse’s weight has progressed over time, you need to display its Horse Weight Record.

There are two ways to access this report.

  1. From the Reports page
  2. From the Horses page.

From the Reports page

Click on the main menu and select “Reports”:


Stable Manage displays the Reports page. Scroll down to the Horse Weight Record:


Use the search box to find the right horse. In this example we have typed the characters “Ba” (1) to find “Barkley”. We then selected Barkley from the list (2):

From the Horses page

Click on the main menu and select “Horses”:

Horse Weight Record

From either route above Stable Manage will display the Horse Weight Record for the selected horse.

At the top of the screen there are date selectors from which a date range of up to a full year can be selected. By default the most recent year’s worth of records is shown.

On the right hand side a graph shows the progression of the horse’s weight over time for the selected period.


  • If a weight was provided when first adding the horse, you will see a Weight Record recorded with the note “Horse Added”. Similarly if you edit the weight of the horse on the Horse Details screen, a Weight Record will be automatically saved with the note “Horse Updated”.
  • Stable Manage builds up a graph of the horse’s weight over time. When the first weight entry is added there’ll be a single dot on the graph, so when the second is added there will be a line joining two dots. As more and more records are added, a trend curve will emerge showing up to the most recent 12 months.
  • On some web browsers, if a new Horse Weight Record is added while on this screen, the report will need to be reloaded in order for the graph to correctly display the updated record.


How do I manage Reminders?

How do I Manage Reminders?

Reminders can be set up for any Schedule Entry and are managed through the Reminders button. The Reminders button is accessed from the actions menu for each Schedule Entry.


How to add a Reminder to a Schedule Entry

Click the Reminders button on a Schedule Entry. Stable Manage displays the Manage Reminders popup for the Entry. The Reminder type is automatically set to “Email” – in future updates to Stable Manage there will be more types available.


Select a duration from the “When” menu. This sets how long before the Schedule Entry start time that the Reminder gets sent.


Click the “ADD REMINDER” button.

Stable Manage displays a success notification and the Reminder is added to the list for the Schedule Entry. Each Schedule Entry can have up to three Reminders added.


The “Close” button closes the Manage Reminders popup and returns you to the Schedule:


The current Reminder count is visible from the Reminders button on the Schedule Entry:


How to remove a Reminder from a Schedule Entry

Open the Manage Reminders popup for the Schedule Entry as described above. Identify the Reminder you want to remove in the list. Click on the “x” button to remove the Reminder:


Stable Manage displays a success notification to confirm that the Reminder has been removed.

How to suspend a Reminder without deleting it

Open the Manage Reminders popup for the Schedule Entry as described above. Identify the Reminder you want to suspend in the list. Click on the “tick” button to suspend the Reminder:

How to activate a Reminder that has been suspended

Open the Manage Reminders popup for the Schedule Entry as described above. Identify the Reminder you want to activate in the list. Click on the “unticked” button to activate the Reminder:

Reminder Email

Below is a simple example of a Reminder Email. The Reminder includes the details about the Entry (time, location, attendees, entry contact, notes and so on)

Contact History Report

Contact History Report

The Contact History Report enables you to view details about the Schedule Entries within the selected Date Range, which are associated with a given Contact as Staff Contact, Entry Contact or a contact based Attendee.

The maximum date range is 31 days. The report includes information about any horse and also other attendee allocations on the Schedule Entries.

For example; you could choose to view all visits by a particular client within a given month, or all tasks assigned to a particular staff member or student in a certain time period.

The Contact Report is accessed from the Reports screen. Click the Reports item on the main menu.

Click GO TO REPORT on the “Contact History” Report item:

Alternatively, if you are already on another Reports sub-screen you can select the report from the Reports sub-menu:

From any of the above ways of accessing this report, Stable Manage will display the Contact History report screen shown below.

Click in the Select Contact search box to begin:

Select the date range or leave the default values of the last 31 days:

Note that Stable Manage is displaying the contact I selected in the main body of the page. Click DISPLAY OR DOWNLOAD REPORT to see the Report options:

Stable Manage displays four options:

  2. DOWNLOAD EXCEL (.xls)
  3. DOWNLOAD CSV (.csv)
  4. RESET

The DISPLAY SUMMARY REPORT option displays a summarised version of the report in reverse date order, with all Attendees and Allocations rolled up into a single row:

The two DOWNLOAD EXCEL and DOWNLOAD CSV options will download a file of the respective file type, each of which includes an identical detailed report.

The detailed report contains the following columns:

  • Activity Type
  • Activity Sub-Type
  • Activity Status
  • Activity Date From
  • Activity Start Time (hh:mm)
  • Activity Duration (hh:mm)
  • Entry Contact Summary
  • Allocation Type
  • Horse Stable Name
  • Horse UELN
  • Horse Show Name
  • Horse Residential Status
  • Horse Activity Status
  • Owner Contact Summary
  • Attendee Summary
  • Staff Contact Summary
  • Activity Notes

IMPORTANT: Where a given entry on the report has allocations (either attendees or horses), there will be a row per allocation.

Remember that an allocation can be; just a horse, just an attendee (person) or both!
Where there is no horse on an allocation, the horse related columns in the report will be left blank – this is normal.

RESET clears the form so that you can start over.

How to manage yard Facilities on Stable Manage (video tutorial)

Any entry on the schedule can be associated with a facility at your yard. A facility can be any place (even an offsite). For example, a walker, arena, office, class room, sporting location, tack room, paddock. A facility can even be as simple as an area or place where some activity takes place, for example “Wall of the back yard”, perhaps that’s where the horses are always washed.

Making the Jump to Stable Manage

All yards have an existing system; it might be paper, a drymarker board, perhaps some Excel templates, an Access database, and often “it’s in my head”.

When someone decides that they want to improve how their yard runs by using Stable Manage, making the jump can be daunting. Even if you want to change because you feel your existing system is not working for you, you might have been using it for years and it’s comfortable. So how do you make the jump to a new approach?

The simplest starting point, which has a huge effect is to briefly revisit the way you think about your planning. Consider the things that get done on a regular, repeating basis at your yard. For example; feed preparation, feeding, muck out, afternoon haylage, worming, weekday rideouts, weekend day rideouts, early gallops, health checks, skip out, and so on – it varies per yard of course but *everyone has a core set of repeating operations*.

This gives you the starting point in Stable Manage.

When you set up a “Weekly/Never Ends” or “Monthly/Never Ends” repeating Schedule Entry for each of these repeating events, all of a sudden you’ve got the core of your Schedule set up for the foreseeable future and it took just a few minutes.

From there you can adjust the schedule (including these repeating events) with the ad-hoc schedule entries and updates that come up along day by day. All those minutes previously spent writing up unnecessary repeating events daily add up incredibly fast. By this simple set up process you save a massive amount of time for your yard over the days, weeks and months!

So you’ve decided to make the jump to Stable Manage, you have logged in for the first time and you are presented with an empty schedule for today’s date. Panic sets in! … you have a few important questions:

  • What am I looking at?
  • What do I do?
  • How do I do things?

It might sound flippant put this way but a new user doesn’t know where things are yet, so this little article aims to give you enough pointers about the menus to help you get started!

The “main” menu

“Schedule” is visible as the selected page in the main menu by default because the Schedule is the default screen.

You can click on “Schedule” or the little black arrow to open the menu:

Main Menu

This menu gives you access to the main screens in Stable Manage:

  • Schedule – here you can view and update everything occuring at your yard on a selected day.
  • Allocations – here you can allocate horses to entries on your schedule on a selected day
  • Horses – your horses will be listed here:
    – the filter (search box) on the type right is useful on this screen.
  • Contacts – your contacts; professionals/service providers, suppliers, staff, students, clients – and anyone else who you might want to associate with an Entry on your schedule:
    – the filter (search box) on the type right is useful on this screen.
  • Facilities – the facilities at your yard; arenas, offices, stables, walkers, paddocks, and so on.
    Reports – this screen provides quick access to the various reports within Stable Manage, currently the following are available:
    – Horse History by Owner
    – Entry History by Service Provider Type
    – Horse History by Horse
    – Contact History
    – Horse Health Record
    – Horse Weight Record
  • Account – On the Account screen you can update the name and description of your yard.
    – You might have to scroll the menu with your finger or mousewheel to see this item because it’s at the bottom of the menu.

The “action” or “add” menu

This menu has a white “plus” symbol on a bright pink circular background. When clicked it opens up the menu which allows you to quickly add things to your account in Stable Manage:

When clicked the action menu will pop open a form, which defaults to “Add Schedule Entry” in the “What do you want to do?” dropdown list.

What Do You Want To Do?

From this list you can select any of the following:

  • Add Schedule Entry
  • Add Contact
  • Add Facility
  • Add Horse
  • Record Horse Weight
  • Record Horse Health

That’s really all there is to it – when you’re used to these two menus, you will find that you fly around Stable Manage in no time to produce the daily lists that your yard runs on, and for getting reports, to use for invoicing and all sorts of analysis about how your yard functions and uses resources.
