How do I view the Horse Weight Record?

How do I view the Horse Weight Record?

Recording horse weight is a good way of correlating between feed, exercise, medication and condition. How to record Horse Weight is described here: How do I add or delete a Horse Weight Record?

To view how a horse’s weight has progressed over time, you need to display its Horse Weight Record.

There are two ways to access this report.

  1. From the Reports page
  2. From the Horses page.

From the Reports page

Click on the main menu and select “Reports”:

Stable Manage displays the Reports page. Scroll down to the Horse Weight Record:

Use the search box to find the right horse. In this example we have typed the characters “Ba” (1) to find “Barkley”. We then selected Barkley from the list (2):

Stable Manage displays the Horse Weight Record described below.

From the Horses page

Click on the main menu and select “Horses”:

Stable Manage displays the Horses page. Locate the horse, again we’ve identified “Barkley”:

Click on the action menu button for the horse:

Stable Manage displays the action menu. Select “Horse Weight”:

Stable Manage displays the Horse Weight Record described below.

Horse Weight Record

From either route above Stable Manage will display the Horse Weight Record for the selected horse.

At the top of the screen there are date selectors from which a date range of up to a full year can be selected. By default the most recent year’s worth of records is shown.

On the right hand side a graph shows the progression of the horse’s weight over time for the selected period.

  • If a weight was provided when first adding the horse, you will see a Weight Record recorded with the note “Horse Added”. Similarly if you edit the weight of the horse on the Horse Details screen, a Weight Record will be automatically saved with the note “Horse Updated”.
  • Stable Manage builds up a graph of the horse’s weight over time. When the first weight entry is added there’ll be a single dot on the graph, so when the second is added there will be a line joining two dots. As more and more records are added, a trend curve will emerge showing up to the most recent 12 months.
  • On some web browsers, if a new Horse Weight Record is added while on this screen, the report will need to be reloaded in order for the graph to correctly display the updated record.

How to manage Contacts in Stable Manage (video tutorial)

Contacts are used in numerous ways in Stable Manage; for assigning and reporting on staff and student activity, for saving repeat visitors to the yard such as jockeys, students, tourists and service providers (vet, dentist, farrier etc).

This video shows the basics of managing contacts in Stable Manage.

Please see our other documentation and tutorial videos.

How to manage yard Facilities on Stable Manage (video tutorial)

Any entry on the schedule can be associated with a facility at your yard. A facility can be any place (even an offsite). For example, a walker, arena, office, class room, sporting location, tack room, paddock. A facility can even be as simple as an area or place where some activity takes place, for example “Wall of the back yard”, perhaps that’s where the horses are always washed.

This video describes are facilities are managed in Stable Manage.

Please see our other documentation and tutorial videos.

How to add an Entry to the Schedule in Stable Manage (video tutorial)

This video picks up from An overview of the Schedule (video tutorial) by showing how to add an entry to the schedule in Stable Manage.

Remember that an entry can be any activity at the yard or just related to the yard. For example, feeding, muck out, turnout, schooling, maintenance, farrier visit, dentistry, a sporting event which you are attending, and so on.

How are Horses allocated to Schedule Entries on Stable Manage?

How are Horses allocated to Schedule Entries on Stable Manage?

Horses are allocated to Schedule Entries on the Allocation screen.

If you are unfamiliar with Allocations; first read the brief overview (it will take less than one minute): Overview of Allocations

There are two ways of accessing the Allocation screen for the date you want.

1. Select the date first and then select “Allocations” from the main menu.
2. Select “Allocations” from the main menu first and then select the date of interest.

Step by Step Example

We’ll start with a day selected, containing two Schedule Entries. The first “Feeding” is not going to need Attendees and the second “Schooling” has two Attendees already set.

If you do not know what Attendees are; have a quick look at this article before moving on: Overview of Attendees.

Two Unallocated Schedule Entries

Select Allocations from the main menu:

Main Menu - Allocation

The Allocations screen is displayed, both of the Schedule Entries are visible.

– There is an ADD HORSE button for each Schedule Entry allowing you to allocate unassigned (free) horses to the Entry. Any horses allocated in this way are horses without an assigned Attendee.
– There is a SET HORSE button for each Attendee on an entry. These buttons are for allocating a horse to the specific Attendee.

Set an Unassigned (Free) Allocation

Allocation Screen without Allocations

Click an ADD HORSE button for any entry to add an unassigned horse allocation:

Add Horse Button

Select a horse, either by searching (type its stable name) or by clicking the “show all horses” link to bring up a pick list.

You can use the switch to choose whether or not the search will include horses marked as “Deceased” or “Unavailable” on the Horse Details screen. By default they are not included.

When you have selected a horse click the SAVE button:

Add Horse Pegasus

We can see that PEGASUS is allowed to the Feeding Schedule Entry.

To change to a different horse click on a horse’s name and a similar dialog will appear.

Allocations screen with first Allocation set.

Set an Attendee Allocation

Click the SET HORSE button opposite any attendee:

Set Horse Button.

A dialog similar to the unassigned allocation dialog appears.

As before you can use the switch to choose whether or not the search will include horses marked as “Deceased” or “Unavailable” on the Horse Details screen. By default they are not included.

The Attendee is displayed as a reminder for who you are going to assign a horse to:

Edit Horse

As before, search for a horse or click “show all horses” to select the horse from a pick list, then click the SAVE button and the dialog will close. In the example we have allocated Barkley to Jennifer:

Edit Horse - Different Horse Selected

We can see Barkley allocated to Jennifer on the Allocation screen:

Attendee Allocation Set.

TIP: If you have a full schedule, the filter box in the top right can be useful to reduce what is displayed.

Allocations Filtered.

Then repeat the process for the rest of the Schedule Entries that you want to allocation.  It’s amazing how fast this process becomes when you get used to it. In real time the example is fully allocated in less than a minute:

Completed Allocations.

Select Schedule from the main menu to return, we can see the allocated horses as “badges” on each Schedule Entry:

Schedule with complete Allocations.

The great news? .. any change or adjustment to your Schedule Entries, Attendees and Allocations, is immediately visible to your staff when they check the schedule to see what’s coming up next – TIME SAVED!
